The Falmouth Commodores (7-6) got back up above .500 tonight, with a 7-3 win over the Orleans Firebirds (7-6).
The Firebirds were the first to get on the board, putting up two runs in the second inning. Chris Triano (Keystone College) earned the first RBI of the night when he slapped a double up the third baseline, bringing home Adam Haseley (U of Virginia) who stood on second after a single and a stolen base. Dayton Squier (UNLV) also earned himself a RBI with a single off the pitcher’s, Brendan King, glove driving in Triano from second.
Orleans kept their rally going in the third advancing their lead to 3-0. Riley Mahan (U of Kentucky) started things off with a bunt single. Haseley singled into left to drive Mahan in.
The Commodores trimmed the Firebirds’ lead to one with a two run third inning. Tyler Lawrence (Murray State U) is credited with both RBIs, driving in Matt McLaughlin (U of Kanas) and Tristan Gray (Rice U), who were both walked.
The Commodores took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning. After Ryan Chandler reached first on a walk, Cadyn Grenier (Oregon State) smacked his first homerun of the season and his fourth and fifth RBI.
The Commodores advanced their lead to 7-3 in the fifth inning. Tyler Lawrence (Murray State U) doubled off the fence in center driving home Merrell and Gray, who were both walked. Trevor Larnach (Oregon State) got an RBI single to center, bringing home Lawrence from second.
Tomorrow Falmouth travel to Bourne to take on the Braves. First pitch is at 6PM!
