The Falmouth Commodores (8-7) rose above .500, with a 3-2 victory over the Cotuit Kettleers (13-2).
The Kettleers got on the board first, scoring one run in the fourth inning. AJ Balta (U of Oregon) singled, and then advanced to second as a result of a throwing error by Willie Burger (Penn State). Balta then advanced to third on a fielder’s choice, and made it home on a bunt by Quinn Brodey (Stanford U).
The Commodores got on the board in the fifth inning. Willie Burger (Penn State), who was walked, scored from third when Cotuit opted for a 6-4-3 double play instead of protecting their lead.

The Commodores took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning. Ryan Chandler (Rice U) easily crossed home plate after a wild pitch by Cotuit’s pitcher Connor Simmons (Georgia Southern U). Michael Gigliotti (Lipscomb U) hit a sacrifice fly to deep-center field to bring home Kevin Merrell (U of South Florida), who bunted to reach base.
The Kettleers trimmed the Commodores’ lead to 3-2 in the eighth inning. Turner Larkins (Texas A&M) was strong in his first outing of the summer. However, Cal Stevenson (U of Arizona) earned a RBI, driving in Jack Klein (Stanford U) with a sacrifice grounder.
The Commodores have the day off tomorrow, but then begin a three game road trip, starting out in Hyannis. First pitch Tuesday 6PM!
