Pitchers dominate as Commodores Hold on to First Place

The Falmouth Commodores hold their first place lead in the west division, with a 1-0 win over the Bourne Braves. The pitchers were all dominant and offense was scarce.

Falmouth pitchers, starter Brady Puckett (Lipscomb), winning pitcher Brac Warren (U of Oregon, and closer Corbin Martin (Texas A&M), combined for a one-hit shut out.  Braves pitching, losing pitcher AJ Moore (Kennesaw St) and reliever Brendon Little (UNC Chapel Hill), were stingy as well, giving up only six hits over nine innings and only one run.

The Commodores scored the only run of the game in the seventh inning.  JJ Matijevic (U of Arizona) chopped a ball over the head of first baseman Greg Deichmann (LSU), allowing him to reach second base safely. The next batter Josh Watson hit his first triple of the season with a high fly ball to left, which David Mackinnon (U of Hartford) was not able to track down due to the 14 MPH winds out of right field that pushed the ball beyond his reach.

The Commodores are at home again tomorrow night against the Chatham Anglers. First pitch is at 6PM!
