Harwich started things of in the bottom of the second. Johnny Adams (Boston College) grounded out to shortstop Cadyn Grenier (Oregon State), but Pavin Smith (U of VA) scored from third on the play.
In the bottom of the third Tristan Gray (Rice U) singling into left field with two outs. With one swing of the bat Tyler Lawrence put the Commodores on the board with two runs. That HR (number 5 for Lawrence) also pushed him past Willie Burger (Penn St) for the most home runs for the team.
The Mariners claimed back the lead, in the sixth inning. With one out, Smith hit a two-run shot over the fence in center. Turner Larkins (Texas A&M) came in to relieve starter, Jake Bird (UCLA) with one out. The rising sophomore loaded the bases on two hits and a walk. Larkins walked the 8th batter of the inning, Antoine Duplantis (Louisiana State), to bring in Harwich’s third run of the inning.
Harwich solidified their lead in the in the seventh inning. Cal Raleigh (Florida State) singled with the bases loaded to drive in the first run. Austin Filiere (MIT) unleashed a grand slam to right center to bring the score to 9-2.
Middle reliever Theodore Rodliff picked up the win for the Mariners, while starter Jake Bird was charged with the loss.
