FALMOUTH- The Falmouth Commodores (26-13) ended the Wareham Gatemen’s (21-15-3) eight game winning streak, with a 4-3 final score.
In the second inning, with bases loaded, Clayton Gelfand (Cal St Chico), walked Cadyn Grenier (Oregon State) and Michael GIgliotti (school) to force in two runs.
The Commodores added two more runs to their lead in the fifth inning. JJ Matijevic (U of AZ) got the first RBI of the inning driving in Deacon Liput (U of Florida) on a double to right center field. Josh Watson (TCU) followed, singling to right to drive in Matijevic.
The Gatemen got on the board in the eighth inning. On a wild throw to first base from third baseman Willie Burger (Penn State), two runs came in to score. Gavin Sheets (Wake Forest) batted in the third run of the inning.
Jeffrey Passantino (Lipscomb) picked up his third win of the season and decreased his ERA to an astounding 0.64. Corbin Martin (Texas A&M) picked up his sixth save of the season and is yet to give up an earned run in 14 innings. Wareham’s starter, Clayton Gelfand (Cal St Chico) was charged with his first loss of the season.
The Commodores are on the road tomorrow in Brewster. First Pitch against the Whitecaps is at 5pm!
