FALMOUTH- The Falmouth Commodores (28-13) clinched the Western Division for the first time since 2004, with a 5-0 win over the Bourne Braves (19-20-2).
The Commodores showed the Braves in the first inning why they have the best record in the Cape League. Josh Watson (TCU) got the first run of the night batted in, tripling to deep right to bring home JJ Matijevic (U of AZ), who stood on first. Tristan Gray (Rice) kept the RBIs going, hitting the 3-2 pitch to left for a ground rule double, bringing Matijevic home. The third and final run of the inning came on a throwing error from the center fielder Brennan Breaux (LSU), allowing Gray to come in to score.
Michael Cantu (U Texas) cleared the fence in center to get his third homerun of the summer.
With bases load Braves reliever, Chad Luensmann (Nebraska), hit Lawrence, walking him and bringing Deacon Liput (U of Florida) in from third.
The Commodores start August off on the road in Chatham. First pitch against the Anglers is at 7PM!
