FALMOUTH- The Commodores lost Game Three of the Cape Cod Baseball Championship to the Y-D Red Sox, 3-0.
Y-D scored, as they have every game of the championship series, in the first frame. On the first pitch of the game, Dillon Persingler (Cal St Fullerton) doubled down the right field line. Two batters later, Kevin Smith (Maryland) hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field to bring in the first run of the night.
In the second inning, the Red Sox continued to drive runs in on Jake Bird (UCLA). The first run of the inning came on a balk by Bird. The second run of the inning was driven in by Nolan Brown (TCU), who singled into shallow center to bring home Matt Winaker (Stanford), for the third run of the ball game.
Falmouth’s starting pitcher was pulled after one and one-third innings. The rising sophomore at UCLA, was responsible for all three runs scored by the Red Sox. He left the game with three runs, one walk, and a strike out.
Bryan Sammons (Western Carolina) got the win for Y-D, and Calvin Faucher (California irvine) earned the save.
