WAREHAM – The Falmouth Commodores game agaisnt the Wareham Gatemen was suspended in a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the second inning on Tuesday at Spillane Field.
Commodores (15-14-1) were inching closer to the West Division leading Gatemen (18-11-1) in the league standings having gone 13-6-1 after a 2-8 start. It will be made up on Thursday July 26 in Wareham. First pitch is 6:30 p.m. and the game is set to restart.
Stanford rising junior Kyle Stowers and 2018 Cape Cod League All-Star laced his fifth home run of the summer in the top of the first for the Commodores to stake a 3-0 lead. Stowers tied Austin Langworthy (Florida) for the team-high in home runs, and took the team-lead with 17 RBIs.
TJ Sikkema (Missouri) pitched 1.2 innings in his fifth start of the summer before the game was postponed. Owning a stellar 1.45 ERA entering the contest, the rising junior allowed three hits and three runs (2 earned) in a rain-soaked bottom of the second.
But, none of this officially counted.
The game was suspended with two outs in the bottom of the second in the midst of a monsoon. The game will be started again, with the aforementioned stats not counting.
Up next: Commodores travel to Orleans for a 7:00 p.m. start on Wednesday July 18.
